  • Overview

    J & J Powder Coating, a Division of SJS Industrial Services, is in need of experienced Powder Coat Finish Technicians.


    All Candidates must be agreeable to 1st and 2nd Shift assignments.


    The Powder Coat Finish Technician is responsible for, and must demonstrate expertise in:

    • Prep work
    • Ensuring required Powder Coat film thickness, color, and cosmetic requirements are met
    • Adjustment of equipment as needed to produce high quality parts
    • Takes direction from Lead Person or Supervisor in a cooperative manner.
    • Operates electrostatic powder spray guns and related equipment and is able to adjust settings for optimal performance. Applies uniform coatings at proper mil thicknesses with no sags or light spots.
    • Tests finishes with approved test methods.
    • Determines if a product needs to be rejected and understands how to initiate corrective action.
    • Develops expertise in specialty products, like Cerakote
    • Meets department standards for efficiency, productivity, and quality. Brings any issues or concerns regarding powder coating to supervisor's attention.
    • Aids in the maintenance and cleaning of the powder coating department. Operates the powder reclaim booth.
    • May be utilized and/or cross trained in other production areas to assist when necessary in meeting company demand.
    • Performs other duties as requested.
    • Maintains acceptable level of punctual and regular attendance for all scheduled work hours.

    This is a non-exempt position, working during regular business hours (Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.) and some evenings, weekends and holidays, as necessary.


    All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department or operational needs.



    • 4+ Years experience operating various powder coating guns and or box feed hopper systems

    • This is a physically demanding position, must be able to lift/move up to 75 pounds on a repetitive basis.

    • Must be highly detailed in prep work and high temperature tape off.
    • Will regularly be lifting parts, bending, stooping, and moving parts.
    • Will crouch or kneel when making paint color changes.
    • Required to stand during entire 10-hour work shift.
    • Constant use of hands and arms to perform job duties.
    • Will be required to wear personal protective equipment when performing job duties, including respirator.
    • Agreeable to Shift assignments.


    Preferred candidates will have:

    • 1+ Years working knowledge of Cerakoting.
    • 2+ Years of creative, customized projects
