  • Overview

    SJS Executives is seeking a Logistics Analyst. Our ideal candidate will be a support of the Research Ops & Metrics Team, providing necessary research/data to evaluate the performances. The candidate will also provide quality analytical logistical services support through deliverable Operational Research (OR) products that assist the Customer in assessing the performance of its products and services, implementation of a meaningful Metrics Program, and pursuit of improved decision making and efficiency.

    Responsibilities

    • Analysis, technical studies, project management, training, trouble shooting, simulation, mathematical optimization, queueing theory and other stochastic process models, Markov decision processes, data envelopment analysis, neutral networks, expert systems, decision analysis, the analytic hierarchy process
    • Deliverables will require extensive programming skills in MS products, in the creation of customized reports.
    • Contracting, warehousing, material control, integrated logistics support, industrial support, fuels, pier-side logistics, provisions, food service, ship store, disbursing, requisitioning, expediting, inventory management, postal, household goods, hazardous material management, aviation support, and Navy financial management. 
    • Experience and proficiency in working both independently and on a team.
    • Effective interpersonal skills.
    • Project management skills and experience.
    • Proficient in gathering, organizing, and managing data using software tools.
    • Extensive knowledge and experience in the Navy Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
    • Proficient in database analysis and interpretation of reports.
    • Specialized expertise in the development and management of metric data programs.
    • Comprehensive background in supply chain management, specifically in the NAVSUP community. Knowledgeable and proficient in the interpretation of all regulations and policies.
    • Proficient in clear and tactful presentations of studies and evaluations both orally and in writing.
    • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office suite of applications with emphasis on MS Word/MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
    • Planning, scheduling and conducting studies of a myriad of operational areas
    • Gathers information from a variety of sources and works with contacts at various levels within the command.
    • Maintains a close liaison with Customer program managers and counterparts.
    • Monitors the products and services performed by Customer, ensuring that all rules, regulations, policies and procedures quoted or used are exact and authoritative.
    • Conducts trend analyses and identifies areas with process deficiencies and applies Government regulations and policies, plus commercial best practices to recommend potential solutions.
    • Recommend new or revised plans, policies and procedures.
    • Produces and presents reports to Customer management team on varied operational research and metric projects/programs.
    • Required to travel to NAVSUP FLC Norfolk operating locations, customer sites, and other NAVSUP commands, to include NAVSUP GLS in San Diego and NAVSUP Headquarters in Mechanicsburg, PA, as required - Up to 25%
    • Proficient communication at the executive leadership level – advocacy and presentations.

    • Extensive knowledge and experience in the Navy Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
    • Proficient in database analysis and interpretation of reports.

    • Comprehensive background in supply chain management, specifically in the NAVSUP community. Knowledgeable and proficient in the interpretation of all regulations and policies.
    • Proficient in clear and tactful Executive level presentations of studies and evaluations both orally and in writing.
    • Microsoft Office suite of applications with emphasis on MS Word/MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.  MOS Expert: Excel certification is preferred.
    • Advance level programming skills in MS Products for the following:

      1. Balance Scorecard
      2. Metrics/Analysis Reports
      3. Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms)
      4. Process Flow Charts
      5. Meeting Minutes/Trip Reports
      6. Detailed Excel Spreadsheets
      7. Power Point Presentations



    Qualifications

    Miniumum Qualifications: 

    • Valid Driver's License
    • US Citizen - Proof of citizenship will be required
    • ACTIVE SECRET Clearance
    • Candidates must be willing to submit to an extensive federal background check and drug screen
    • Extensive knowledge and experience of all facets of Navy Supply and logistics:
      • Contracting, warehousing, material control, integrated logistics support, industrial support, fuels, pier-side logistics, provisions, food service, ship store, disbursing, requisitioning, expediting, inventory management, postal, household goods, hazardous material management, aviation support, and Navy financial management.
    • Experience and proficiency in working both independently and on a team.
    • Proficient communication at the executive leadership level – advocacy and presentations.

    • Project management skills and experience.
    • Proficient in gathering, organizing, and managing data using software tools.

    • Extensive knowledge and experience of all facets of Navy Supply and logistics:

    Preferred Candidate Skill Set: 

     

    • Navy, Marine Corps, Joint and Allied Forces Supply Logistics, including operational forces, new construction and maintenance.
    • Base operating and waterfront logistics support services, coordinating material deliveries, and providing material management and warehousing services.
    • Quality of Life programs: Navy Personal Property Program, Navy Postal System, Navy Food Service Program, Navy Ship Store Program, and the Navy Cash program.
    • The Operations Research field - education and an advanced degree in O.R. is desirable.
