    SJS Executives, a prime federal contractor, has an immediate requirement for a Cyber Security Technician-Analyst (CSTA) for their headquarters offices in Virginia Beach.
    The CSTA will providing management and oversight of Cybersecurity, including Insider Threat issues.

    The CSTA will also provide management of IT systems and infratructure that is associated with security/cybersecurity.

    A Current SECRET Clearance is required – all candidates will need to provide documentation of proof.

    This position is Full Time, day shift.

    Telecommuting is not an option for this assignment.


    Duties and Responsibilities:

    All duties and responsibilities fall under three (3) general categories:

    1. Information Technology (IT) Manager
    2. Cybersecurity Manager


    Information Technology Manager

    • Set up computers with required software and networking features and issue them to employees
    • Create and maintain inventory databases tracking all of SJS’s software and hardware assets, including those issued to employees
    • Provide employees with on-demand technical support and troubleshooting for computers, software, networks and peripherals like printers and scanners, Monday through Friday, eight (8) hours per day
    • Serve as SJS’s central IT Subject Matter Expert (SME)
    • Serve as a liaison with any outsourced IT services or vendors
    • Seek opportunities for cost savings for SJS through bundling software subscriptions, buying items in bulk, etc. and propose cost reduction initiatives to executive management team
    • Ensure terminated and departing employees return all hardware, software and peripherals to SJS and take measures to secure unreturned property, if necessary
    • Decommission hardware and storage media using secure, environmentally-sensitive destruction services that provide documentation to validate proper disposal
    • Ensure SJS IT systems conform to industry specifications such as NIST 800-171, which is applicable to all military-defense contractors, and render changes to SJS IT systems as needed to maintain compliance
    • Remain aware of and informed about government IT industry developments like new regulations and specifications to ensure SJS is always up-to-date and compliant; this requires regularly keeping up with industry publications and news sources like Government Computer Week, Government CIO, the Federal News Radio website, etc. 
    • Advise SJS executive leadership team about annual IT requirements and budget, e.g., forecast software and hardware needs, develop budget estimates to provide to executive team for approval.


    Cybersecurity Manager (also sometimes referred to as Information Security Technician or Analyst)

    • Establish and execute SJS’s long term cybersecurity strategy and policy, ensuring SJS meets all cybersecurity regulatory compliance elements for American military-defense contractors
    • Protect SJS information and information systems according to the law and according to risk (you can be 100 percent compliant with the regulations but still be at risk, so legal compliance and risk elimination are two separate performance parameters)
    • Implement software, hardware, physical access and social/personnel solutions and rule sets to prevent cyber-attacks, unintended information loss and insider threats
    • Ensure all Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) is handled and protected in conformance with NISP 800-171 and affiliated regulations
    • Respond to, control and correct computer security breaches and/or viruses
    • Ensure all hardware assets issued to employees have up-to-date security software and features
    • Keep SJS executive leadership team informed about SJS’s cybersecurity posture
    • Interact with vendors or consultants who provide cybersecurity-related products or services



    Minimum Qualifications:

    • 5 or more years of Information Technology experience including technical support, inventory control, cybersecurity
    • Experience in managing servers and networks for a small business or a division of a large business
    • Must have experience working for a military-defense contractor or military-defense command (experience gained in a state or local government, or working within or in support of a non-military federal agency only is not sufficient for hire)
    • Must be able to render all of the duties and responsibilities listed in this Job Description, or be able to interface with a third-party consultant who will render some of the services


    • CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) certification is highly desired for this position
