Overview

 

  • Actively promotes the company Philosophy, account objectives, and industry best practices at all times.
  • Develops, monitors and reports individual account performance metrics to the General Manager on a daily basis. At a minimum these metrics include:
    • Cost Control
    • Receiving performance
    • Order fulfilment performance
    • Quality performance
    • Labor requirements for the following day
    • Safety
  • Improves warehouse operations through regular evaluation of handling and storage requirements.
    • Constantly seeks to improve the efficiency of receiving products, equipment utilization, inventory management, order fulfillment, and shipping.
    • Develops time standards for all activities and uses them as the basis for performance evaluation.
  • Oversees the interaction between the administrative and operational components off all facilities. Has the ability to fill in as either the Office Manager or Supervisor on any account for a limited period of time.
  • Coordinates directly with the Security Manager to maintain facility security.
  • Compiles square footage reports and submits them by the specified date monthly.

People

  • Treats all employees in accordance with the company Philosophy - people as the engine of success, not as inhibitors to success.
  • Responsible for the development of all supervisors.
    • Gives verbal performance feedback on a daily basis and provides more formal performance evaluations on a monthly basis in order to regularly address expectations.
    • Oversees the training program for all account personnel and provides weekly updates to the General Manager.
  • Manages the daily personal requirements for all assigned accounts.
    • Transfers personnel between accounts as necessary to meet work load requirements and minimize overtime.
    • Responsible for initially meeting and then introducing all new hires to their assigned supervisors. Evaluates temporary hires for future potential with the company.
  • Maintains a safe and efficient work environment by following and enforcing company policies.
    • Stays informed on OSHA regulations and safety best practices in order to identify potential safety hazards.
    • Responsible for implementing disciplinary action when employees fail to adhere to company policies.
    • Reports all personnel issues to the General Manager immediately and provides recommendations for action on these issues.
    • Engages with all employees on a daily basis in order to monitor the climate of the workforce and develop methods to improve job satisfaction.

Vendors

  • Develops vendor relationships to ensure the highest standard of service is received at the most affordable cost.
  • Purchases required supplies as needed and coordinates between accounts for the most efficient procurement and consumption practices.
  • Submits all procurement orders and invoices to billing within the specified period of time from receipt.

Misc. Accounts

  • Responsible for meeting the productivity, quality, and customer service standards for all accounts. Records and monitors required Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Acts as the primary point of contact for customer questions, issues, and special projects outside the scope of normal operations.
  • Reports all issues of non-compliance to the General Manager immediately and provides recommendations for solutions.
  • Meets with all account Supervisors in person at least once daily.
  • Evaluates available space daily.
    • Determines optimal locations for projects, swing loads, and overflow storage based on volume, dwell time, and special equipment needed.
    • Coordinates directly with Sales and Logistics about space available for potential projects.
    • Constantly maximizes space utilization and minimizing labor hours required to conduct all activities.
  • Provides profitable quotes for special projects based on productivity, switching, dock doors used, space required, and timing as required.
  • Reviews all assigned accounts rate sheets regularly to ensure all activity and storage volume is accounted for within the billing. Special emphasis on monitoring space usage on accounts with dedicated storage agreements.
  • Develops project plans for spot projects and provides the plans to the General Manager for approval. Coordinates mutli-shift projects and supervises FDA inspections/marking violations. 
  • You are responsible for all operational activities of the accounts assigned.
    • The majority of your time will be spent engaging with supervisors and personnel on the warehouse floor.
    • The operational performance of all assigned accounts is a direct reflection of your performance as the Operations Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Works directly for the General Manager to ensure operational excellence of all warehouse activities.
  • Monitors and reports account performance metrics on a daily basis.
  • Improves warehouse operations through regular evaluation of handling and storage requirements:
    • Constantly seeks to improve the efficiency of receiving products, equipment utilization, inventory management, order fulfillment, and shipping.
    • Develops standards for all activities and uses them as the basis for performance evaluation.
  • Oversees the interaction between the administrative and operational components of warehouse actives.
  • Responsible for developing and executing continuing training for all subordinates, including 4-5 Supervisors and 35-45 warehouse staff.
  • Manages the daily personnel requirements for all assigned accounts, forecasting future needs and onboarding new hires.
  • Maintains a safe and efficient work environment by following and enforcing company policies.
  • Responsible for meeting the productivity, quality, and customer service standards for all accounts. Records and monitors required Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Acts as the primary point of contact for customer questions, issues, and special projects outside the scope of normal operations.
  • Develops vendor relationships to ensure the highest standard of service is received at the most affordable cost.
  • Utilizes the Warehouse Management System to administratively track activity and ensure accurate billing.
  • Leads the account staff towards operational goals through daily operations meetings, identifying work requirements, distributing labor, and developing a daily operational plan.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2+ years’ experience in warehouse operations with preference for mass merchant and e-commerce fulfillment knowledge.
  • Experience utilizing distribution Warehouse Management Systems to conduct operations.
  • Proven leadership abilities displaying an aptitude for planning and executing complex workloads.
  • Excellent problem solving and communications skills.
  • Previous 3PL operational experience preferred.
  • QA/Inventory experience preferred.
  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
