The Newport Navy Base (PWD Newport) is in urgent need of a Water Distribution System Operator (WDSO).
Shift: Monday - Friday 7AM-330PM. Some plant operations outside of these hours will also require the WDSO to be on site.
The WDSO shall also respond to water distribution system oversight issues after normal working hours and on weekends if required.
1.1. Water Distribution Systems. The WDSO will work with the Government to operate, maintain and repair the water distribution systems. The work shall include pumping, storage and distribution of potable water; preventive maintenance, repair of the system, testing, and completing records and reports in order to provide potable water 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Example of weekly potable water system work orders are attached.
1.1.1. Water Storage Tanks. The WDSO will work with the Government to operate and maintain the fresh water storage tanks identified in attached list.
1.1.2. Water Samples: The WDSO will work with the Government to take weekly water samples per approved RIDOH sampling plan. These samples shall be taken using Government provided collection containers and IAW approved RIDOH and AWWA procedures. The water samples shall be delivered to a certified laboratory.
2.1.1. Fresh Water Booster Pumps. The WDSO will work with the Government to operate and maintain the fresh water booster pumps identified in attached list. The booster pumps shall be exercised monthly and the checks/preventive maintenance described in attached list shall be performed. Repairs shall be documented, responded to, and reported.
2.1.2. Exercise Valves. The WDSO will work with the Government to exercise all water valves per frequencies identified in PM plan. . The Government shall keep a log of the valves that are exercised, date exercised, and what was performed (cleaning, painting, etc.). The log of valve exercising shall be made available to the Government upon request.
2.1.3 Ship to Shore Connections: The WTPO shall perform ship to shore potable water connections for ships home ported at Naval Station Newport as well as visiting ships.
2.1.4 Water Main Flushing. The Government shall perform an unidirectional potable water system flushing on an annual basis during month of October normally between hours 1800-2400. WDSO shall be on site for this effort. Other flushing will be done as required.
2.1.5 Repair. The repair of the water distribution system equipment shall include all pumps, motors, electrical equipment and components; as well as associated appurtenances necessary to deliver water through the system. All water system repair requirements identified by the Government shall be reported to the Utility Production Controller for issuance of a service call number or task order, assignment of repair priority, and establishment of a completion date. All equipment repair actions (customer initiated, Government initiated, or Government initiated) shall be documented, responded to, and reported.
Potable Water System Asset Inventory:
The WDSO shall have a valid State issued vehicle operator license.
